South Africa is a country that is known for its wine. There are many different wine regions in South Africa, but two of the most well-known are the Western Cape and the Garden Route. The Western Cape is located in the southwestern part of the country and is known for its red wines, while the Garden Route is located in the eastern part of the country and is known for its white wines. Both regions are worth exploring if you're interested in wine, and you can find plenty of wineries to visit in both areas.

South Africa is the largest exporter of wine to the European Union, and it has also become one of the largest exporters of wine to Japan, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2017 exports reached a record high of 1.6 million cases.


Smaller vineyards in South Africa are gaining a reputation for excellent produce and increasing international recognition. In 2013, South Africa was the fifth largest wine producer in the world by volume after France, Italy, Spain and Australia.
